Enjoy a Private Tour of Munich by Bike

Our Munich City Bike Tour is a fantastic way to explore Munich, and opting for a private tour for your family or friends guarantees a personalized experience with undivided attention from your guide. Booking a Private Tour offers you the extra flexibility and exclusivity to ensure that this tour fits in seamlessly to your time in Munich. Enjoy cruising through the streets with your own personal expert tour guide at a time that works best for you, and crafting the information based on your interests. Opting for a private tour allows you to experience Munich just how you’d like to see it without the distraction of outside guests, and covers more ground in just a few hours than you ever could on foot, making it perfect for families, parties, corporate groups, and more.

The tour itself is a perfect orientation to one of Europe’s most fascinating and charming cities. Your private guide will entertain you with sights and stories about the city, covering its turbulent past and beyond. If you’re interested in World War II history (Munich being the former headquarters of the Nazi Party) or more modern culture, your guide is an expert on all things Munich and Germany. We’ll also touch on plenty of modern Munich culture including the famous English Garden surfers, Odeonplatz, Bavarian Parliament, and of course our beloved local farmers markets!

When in Bavaria, do as the Bavarians do. A highlight of this tour is a stop at a massive beer garden in the beautiful English Gardens where you’ll have the opportunity to chat with your guide, all while enjoying some local cuisine and drinks. Your guide will fill you in on how seriously the Bavarians take their beer, and more.

Questions about our Bikes/Biking in Munich

Where is the meeting point?

This tour meets at our shop which is just off Karlsplatz 4 (Stachus), the bustling square between the Main Train Station (Hauptbahnhof) and Marienplatz. At the Karlsplatz fountain with your back to Karlstor and the pedestrian shopping street, turn right along Sonnenstrasse. After 50 meters, you will see our shop in the courtyard of Karlsplatz 4, on the right-hand side. The closest metro station is Karlsplatz (Stachus).

Are the bike tours appropriate for kids?

Our tours are great options for families and kids are very welcome. We have several types of kids’ bikes, seats, and helmets to make sure everyone of all sizes is comfortable on tour. Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult on the tour.

  • Our city tours are very casual, with only slight elevation gains, on varying surfaces from smooth gravel to pavement. It is necessary however that any person planning on taking our bike tours to have at least some experience riding, and should be comfortable riding in a group.

Is a helmet included?

In Germany cyclists are not compelled by law to wear a helment, however we require them for children. We have helmets of all sizes available in our office.

I haven't been on a bike in years, is biking in Munich difficult?

While all of our tours maintain a leisurely pace, we want our guests to have fun and be safe, so being able to ride a bike is paramount. Munich is a very bike-friendly city and cars are used to sharing the road with cyclists and pedestrians.

We believe there is a tour for everyone, therefore each of our bike tours fall into one of the following categories, which you can find identified on the individual tour page:

Leisurely Cycling – Perfect for novice bike riders or those that haven’t been on a bike in years. You should have average balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. We will be riding on bike lanes, through parks, on cobbled streets, and occasionally with traffic. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety. If you’re not sure how you’ll fare, we invite you to come to our office about 30 minutes prior to your tour start time to try the bikes.

Intermediate Cycling – You should have good balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. Riders should be prepared for small hills, riding single-file behind other riders, and riding in a group. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety.

Athletic Cycling – Tours that fall under this category are by no means strenuous, but they cover a greater distance than our other tours and/or spend more time cycling in the roads than our other tours. You should have good balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. We vary between single-file & group riding. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety. We have children join us on tours at this level all the time so it completely depends on your confidence with a bicycle!

How much does a private tour cost?

Our pricing for private tours fluctuates according to the season and guide availability. To give you a general idea, private tours are usually around 60€ per person for a group of 4. Please contact us with your preferred date and number of people, and we will respond right away to let you know our availability and pricing.
All of our private tour requests are individually analyzed by our private tours department, and quotes are given based on a number of factors including tour guide availability, booking time, season, bike availability, and group size.

Do we go inside museums and monuments?

Our bike, Segway, and walking tours do not enter the monuments due to time constraints, unless entering a monument/museum is specified on the tour page itself. Our tours are designed to enjoy the city from a broad perspective, so that’s what we’re going to do!

Do I need to reserve a bike separately?

No – the bike is included with the bike tour, so just bring yourself and we will take care of the rest!

General Tour Questions

Can I leave the tour early?

No, it is not possible to leave the tour early. If our public tours don’t fit your schedule, we may be able to arrange a private tour that works for you.

Where do I go for my tour?

Our shop is just off Karlsplatz 4 (Stachus), the bustling square between the Main Train Station (Hauptbahnhof) and Marienplatz.

How early do I need to arrive at the meeting point?

We ask that all guests arrive no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.

Are tours cancelled in case of rain?

No, our tours run rain or shine. We have ponchos available for anyone that needs them in our office.

Are reservations required for the tours?

We highly recommend reservations. While we are happy to accommodate walk-up customers as space is sometimes available, our tours have limited space and do sell out early. Booking online or calling our office in advance will avoid any disappointment once in Munich.

How long before my tour should I arrive?

The tour meeting time is 15 minutes prior to the start time. No refunds or re-bookings can be provided for late arrivals or no-shows after tour commencement or departure.
