Catacombs

Underneath the city of Paris lies a network of underground tunnels filled with the bones of over 6 million people, known as “The World’s Largest Grave”. The Catacombs were built in the 18th century to relieve the overflowing cemeteries above ground in Paris and have a fascinating history. Situated 20 meters below ground in the 14th Arrondissement, you can you can stumble upon grafitti dating back to the French Revolution, walk through abandoned Nazi bunkers from World War II, and hear about the secret cinema that was discovered a decade ago.

Dark, winding passageways lined with bones from floor to ceiling offer one of the most unique experiences in the world. Only a portion of the 200 km network is open to the public, although our Skip the Line All-Access Tour gives an exclusive tour of some of these areas not available to be the public accompanied by an expert guide to lead you through the tunnels.

Due to the dark and compact nature of the Catacombs, a limited quantity of visitors are allowed entrance at one time – making this the hardest ticket to secure, with the longest line in town to boot!
