Our very special red-haired antipodean Freddy has set up his own bike tour company in Melbourne, aptly named Freddy’s Bike Tours.
After studying Economics in Melbourne, Freddy made his way over to Europe and found himself settling for a while in the beer capital of the universe: Munich. It was here that he started working at our City Segway Tours. Having caught the tour guiding bug and realising that Melbourne was seriously lacking in the bike tour department, he skipped the European winter of 2012 in favour of setting up his own Tour Company in his home town. Using the rotation of the world to his complete advantage, he decided to come back to Germany for the Australian Winter. The past couple summers he’s come to Berlin, joining our much larger crew at Fat Tire Bike Tours, where he rocked our Day City Tour and Evening Food Tour. Then, as soon as the leaves started to fall and the gloves came out, he jumped ship again back to Oz for their Summer. Keeping himself with a permanent tan, he now does this every year!
Enjoy a Chilled City or Food Tour around Melbourne
Freddy offers both a City Tour ($39) and a Food Tour ($99). The City trail is a 4.5 hour relaxing bike ride seeing all of Melbourne’s main sights including the Yarra River, the Botanical Gardens and the Melbourne Gaol, where non other than Ned Kelly was executed. You will also have the chance to ride through the one of the hippest districts in the city, stopping for a re-energising lunch and beer to keep you going for the second half of the tour.
The Food Tour is a chilled 4-5 hour ride, taking you on a journey through Melbourne’s three largest immigrant groups – by taste! You will be stopping first at a locally-owned Chinese restaurant for some tasty Dumplings. Then onwards to Freddy’s favourite Greek restaurant where you can sample delicious meat and seafood dishes. Finally for coffee and cake at a wonderful little Italian restaurant. Make sure to bring your appetite!
