Mykonos features rolling hills, narrow roads, and occasional unpaved trails, making some areas demanding for casual cyclists. While the main town areas experience heavy vehicle traffic during peak season, the rural eastern half of the island offers peaceful routes through scenic countryside.

Spring and autumn provide the best cycling conditions with mild temperatures and significantly fewer vehicles on the roads. In summer, riders contend with intense heat and powerful seasonal winds known as the Meltemi, which can make pedaling more challenging.

Most cycling routes head away from crowded resort hubs toward the traditional village of Ano Mera and its historic monastery. Itineraries frequently traverse inland farmland and lead riders to unspoiled coastal spots like Fokos and Mersini beaches.

An e-bike is widely recommended because of the island's frequent short, steep hills and persistent sea breezes. The motor assistance makes navigating hilly terrain manageable and enjoyable for riders of diverse fitness levels.

Many guided routes follow quieter agricultural tracks away from main thoroughfares, making them approachable for recreational cyclists. Families with older children and confident beginners can comfortably participate, particularly when using electric bicycles.
