Cat Ba offers scenic, paved roads and rural trails, but the island is naturally hilly due to its karst geography. While coastal stretches and village pathways are relatively gentle, crossing the island interior involves some steep inclines and winding roads.
Autumn and spring, from October to April, offer the best cycling conditions with mild temperatures and lower humidity. Summer can bring high heat and sudden rainstorms, while winter months are cooler but occasionally misty.
Most organized tours take cyclists through Cat Ba National Park and along the scenic rural paths of Viet Hai Village. Depending on the route, itineraries may also include stops at Hospital Cave or coastal viewpoints overlooking Lan Ha Bay.
