Bordeaux was called Burdigala long before it became the world's wine capital. With Monsieur Bacchus, you ride through 2,000 years of history in 3 hours, with a local who actually lives here.
Over about 13 flat kilometres, we pedal from the Roman Palais Gallien to Saint-André Cathedral and the medieval Grosse Cloche, where we stop for a canelé from our artisan partner Cassonade. We cross the Garonne on the Pont de Pierre for the best view of the UNESCO-listed riverfront, take a break at Darwin, the creative hub of the right bank, then ride back over the Chaban-Delmas bridge to the Chartrons, the old wine merchants' quarter.
Our guides don't read a script: they share their stories, their favourite spots and their best tips. Where to eat tonight? Which wine bar is worth it? Just ask! Small groups (12 guests max per guide), comfortable Dutch bikes and helmets included. No megaphone, no rush: just good company and a city to fall in love with.
