Medellín

Medellín features an expanding network of dedicated bike paths, especially along the central valley floor. While flat routes run through districts near the river, the surrounding foothills become steep and challenging for cyclists.

Medellín has mild, spring-like weather throughout the year, making cycling possible in any season. The driest months typically fall between December and February, as well as July and August.

Most tours stop at central highlights such as Plaza Botero, Parques del Río, and the Medellín River corridor. Depending on the route, riders may also visit historic neighborhoods, local parks, and cultural plazas.

A regular bicycle works well for flat routes running along the river basin and through central neighborhoods. An e-bike is recommended if your route includes hilly districts or climbs to viewpoints like Cerro Nutibara.

Tours sticking to flat valley paths and designated cycle lanes are very manageable for beginners and families. Many visitors also take advantage of Sunday Ciclovía, when major city roads are closed to vehicular traffic.
