Welcome to Barcelona Walking Tour: Gothic Quarter with Barcelona Cathedral, La Rambla and La Boqueria
This walking tour packs a lot into to a short amount of time and takes you to places where other tours don't. It's the perfect way for first-time visitors to get acquainted with the city. You'll see some of Barcelona's most beloved sights, enjoy a brief introduction to Catalan history and culture, taste locally-produced Spanish hams, and get great recommendations for what to see and where to eat during the rest of your stay.
We'll meet in the center of Barcelona's old city, where you'll pass huge fragments of the old Roman wall on the way to Barcelona Cathedral. We've carefully crafted a route that showcases the best of this small area. Every street, plaza and point of interest on this tour is intimately connected with the story of Barcelona. Since you're touring with a local guide, you'll also get some insight into modern politics, including Catalonia's quest to gain independence from Spain.
After a stroll down Barcelona's iconic pedestrian street, La Rambla, we arrive at the city's favorite market, La Boquería. Here you’ll explore the stalls overflowing with local meats, cheeses and other produce and you’ll learn what’s in season during your visit, and why Catalonia is considered one of the most fertile regions in Spain.
Finally, you’ll visit Barcelona Cathedral, formally known as The Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, although you'll hear most locals refer to it as "La Seu". Hear fascinating stories during an interior tour of the cathedral, including access to the rooftop terrace, where you'll enjoy beautiful views from above.
