The D-Day Beaches Day Trip

Duration: 10 Hours (approximately) Make a Reservation Back to Tours

June 6, 1944 - Operation Overlord began the liberation of Fortress Europe. We are happy to offer you the opportunity of an unforgettable visit to the D-Day beaches in Normandy. This day trip from Paris will take you to Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery, Pointe du Hoc, the Omaha Beach Memorial Museum and the German Longues-sur-Mer battery. This is a must for all World War II enthusiasts.

Your guide will meet you in front in Place du Quebec, usher you into the comfortable air conditioned/heated minivan (this is not by bike) and head out into the beautiful Normandy countryside. It may be difficult to imagine tens of thousands of soldiers waging war in such a stunning region of France. Be ready to relive that great and terrible day as your guide fills you with both broad overviews and fascinating details.

Tour Highlights

  • normandy 71
    The American Cemetery

Technically United States territory, the cemetery is the final resting place for almost 10,000 fallen US soldiers. The grounds are beautifully kept and offer a stunning view over Omaha Beach and the English Channel.

    Omaha Beach

"Bloody Omaha" extends to the east and west below the American Cemetery. Viewers of Saving Private Ryan have an idea of what happened here.

  • picture 031
    Pointe du Hoc

Today the small peninsula looks like the surface of the moon - hundreds of bombs and shells were dropped here to disable the two long-range guns that could fire on both Omaha and Utah beaches. The US Rangers suffered terrible casualties here.

  • normandy 126
    Longes-sur-Mer Battery

Four long-range German guns and their bunkers still intact after heavy Allied aerial bombardment. Be sure to also take a walk to the observation bunker that hangs over the cliff above the English Channel.

Amazing Time

My husband and I recently took the Versailles tour in Paris. I just wanted to say that your team was absolutely fantastic and we had an amazing time. My husband and I actually had to come back early due to dinner reservations and your team was more than accommodating. Adam and Andrew looked after us all the way and ensured we were on the train back to Paris by 5pm. I don’t think any other tour company would have accommodated us like Fat Tire Bike Tours. I just want to congratulate Adam and Andrew on a great job and can’t wait to refer Fat Tire Bike Tours to all my friends. Thank you for a wonderful time in Versailles.
